FAULT TRACING9.1 Fault codesWhen a fault is detected by the frequency converter control electronics, the drive is stopped and thesymbol F together with the ordinal number of the fault, the fault code and a short fault descriptionappear on the display. The fault can be reset with theReset button on the control keypad or via theI/O terminal. The faults are stored in the Fault history menu (M5) which can be browsed. Thedifferent fault codes you will find in the table below. The fault codes, their causes and correcting actions are presented in the table below. Theshadowed faults are A faults only. The faults written in white on black background may appear asboth A and F fault.Table 55. Fault codesFaultcode Fault Possible cause Correcting measures1 Overcurrent Frequency converter has detected toohigh a current (> 4*IH) in the motorcable:- sudden heavy load increase- short circuit in motor cables- unsuitable motorSubcode in T.14:S1 = Hardware tripS3 = Current controller supervisionCheck loading.Check motor.Check cables.2 Overvoltage The DC-link voltage has exceeded thelimits defined in Table 9.- too short a deceleration time- high overvoltage spikes in supplySubcode in T.14:S1 = Hardware tripS2 = Overvoltage control supervisionMake the deceleration timelonger. Use brake chopper orbrake resistor (available formost chassis as options)3 Earth fault Current measurement has detected thatthe sum of motor phase current is notzero.- insulation failure in cables ormotorCheck motor cables andmotor.5 Charging switch The charging switch is open, when theSTART command has been given.- faulty operation- component failureReset the fault and restart.Should the fault re-occur,contact your local distributor.6 Emergency stop Stop signal has been given from theoption board.Check emergency stopcircuit.7 Saturation trip Various causes:- defective component- brake resistor short-circuit oroverloadCannot be reset from thekeypad.Switch off power.DO NOT RE-CONNECTPOWER!Contact your local distributor. If this fault appearssimultaneously with Fault 1,check motor cables andmotor.Phone: 800.894.0412 - Fax: 888.723.4773 - Web: www.clrwtr.com - Email: info@clrwtr.com
