107Safety systemsSeat beltsIn the event of an accident, persons notwearing seat belts endanger their fellowoccupants and themselves.Control indicator X for the seat belt – seepage 36.Seat belts are only intended for one person.They are not suitable for anyone under12 years of age or under 150 cm tall.For children up to 12 years of age, werecommend the Vauxhall child restraintsystem – see page 124.Three-point seat beltsThe vehicle is equipped with three-pointseat belts with automatic retractors andlocking devices, allowing freedom of bodymovement although the spring tensionedbelts always ensure a snug fit.Picture no: 17515j.tifFor information on correct seatingposition – see pages 81, 110, 113.The belt has a "vehicle sensitive retractor"which is designed to lock during heavyacceleration or deceleration in anydirection.Belt tensionersThe front seat belt systems are equippedwith belt tensioners. In the event of a head-on or rear-end collision of a certainseverity, the belt buckles are pulled down,therefore tightening the belts.Picture no: 17616j.tifActuation of belt tensionersis indicated by illumination of controlindicator v, see next page.The belt tensioners must be replaced afteractivation. We recommend that youconsult your Vauxhall Authorised Repairer.If the seat belts are undamaged theoperation thereof is unaffected, even if thebelt tensioners have been triggered.Further information – see page 110.9 WarningAlways wear your seat belt, and thatmeans also in urban traffic and when youare a rear seat passenger.
