69Keys, doors, bonnetAutomatic closing 3If the mechanical anti-theft lockingsystem 3 is activated, the electronicwindows and sun roof 3 are automaticallyclosed and the electrically retractableexterior mirrors 3 are automaticallyretracted as soon as the rain sensor 3detects water on the windscreen.To safeguard the battery from dischargeby the rain sensor 3, after four hours thewindows and sun roof 3 are automaticallyclosed and the electrically retractableexterior mirrors 3 are automaticallyretracted.For further information on windows andthe sun roof – see pages 138, 141.FaultIf the central locking system cannot beoperated with the radio remote control, itmay be due to the following:z If the central locking system isoverloaded as a result of repeatedoperation at short intervals. The powersupply is cut off for a brief period.z Defective fuse in fuse box – seepage 246.Consult your Vauxhall Authorised Repairerto have the cause of the fault remedied.Operating the driver’s door with the key -see next section.Picture no: 17546j.tifFault when locking or unlockingRadio remote control faultTo unlockInsert key into lock in driver’s door and turnforwards as far as it will go. Turn key backto vertical position and remove from lock.Unlock driver’s door with central lockingswitch, see page 67.The mechanical anti-theft lockingsystem 3 and the Vauxhall alarm system 3are deactivated when the key is inserted inthe ignition switch.To lockOpen front passenger door, close driver’sdoor, lock vehicle using central lockingswitch, see page 67, close front passengerdoor.Malfunction in central locking systemTo unlockInsert key into driver’s door lock and turnforwards as far as it will go. Turn key backto a vertical position and remove. Theother doors can be unlocked by pulling theinterior lock button (unless the mechanicalanti-theft locking system has beenenabled 3). The luggage compartmentand the fuel filler cap remain locked.To lockLock front passenger door and rear doorsby pushing the interior lock button. Lockdriver’s door with key in lock.
