We recommend that you consult aVauxhall Authorised Repairer regardingtechnical possibilities, such as fitting amore powerful battery.Laying up the vehicle for more than 4weeks can lead to battery discharge, whichmay reduce the service life of the battery.Disconnect battery from on-board powersupply by detaching negative terminal(Vauxhall alarm system 3 is thendisabled).Ensure that ignition is switched off beforeconnecting battery. Then perform thefollowing actions:z Setting date and time in the informationdisplay – see pages 44, 47, 52.z Activate window and sun roofelectronics 3 if necessary – seepages 138, 141.In order to prevent the battery fromdischarging, some consumers such as thecourtesy light automatically switch offafter approx. 20 minutes.Protecting electronic componentsIn order to prevent faults in electroniccomponents in the electrical system, neverconnect or disconnect battery with enginerunning or ignition switched on. Never startengine with battery disconnected, e.g.when starting using jump leads.To avoid damaging the vehicle, do notmake any modifications to the electricalsystem, e.g. connecting additionalconsumers or tampering with electroniccontrol units (chip tuning).Disconnecting/connecting vehicle batteryfrom/to electrical systemDisconnect the battery from the vehicleelectrical system before charging: Firstdetach the negative and then the positivelead. Do not reverse the polarity of thebattery, i.e. do not confuse the terminalsfor the positive and negative leads. Whenconnecting, start with the positive lead andthen connect the negative lead.9 WarningWe recommend that you have batterychanges carried out by a VauxhallAuthorised Repairer.
