OPERATION OUTLINEPage C-2 Xerox 495 Continuous Feed Duplex Printer Operator GuideOperation OutlineThis section gives an outline of printing by this printer. The printing operation consists of four cycles for every sheet. These are:1. Information transfer cycle - the transfer of data from the Hostcomputer to the Page buffer.2. Recording cycle - the transfer of data from the page buffer to thePhotoconductor drum. This cycle places toner on the electrostaticimage in preparation for the transfer cycle.3. Transfer cycle - transferring the image on the Photoconductor drumto the paper.4. Fusing cycle - fusing the image on the paper. The following illustration shows the areas where these cycles take place. The numbers represent the cycles shown above.Information transfer cycleThe information transfer cycle follows the IPDS datastream. One sheet of data for the front and back sides is transferred sequentiallyfrom the host computer to the page buffer in this printer.Printing data transferred from the host computer is first stored in theintermediate buffer of the printer. The data stored in the intermediate buffer is processed according to theHopperTractor Assembly3.
