3-6 IPDS User GuideUsing Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server IPS ManagerJob Profile EditorThe IPS Manager screen is the main system screen for IPDSsupport. It is the entry point to all other screens used in IPDS datastream management. The options in the IPS Manager “ManageJob Profiles” dialog allow you to enter the IPDS specific settingsused by Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server IPDS to compose thepages specified by the IPDS data stream. The print server retainsall parameter values on the print server during shutdown andrestores the settings the next time you start the IPDS system. The values that you specify remain in effect until you changethem. If you change these values to process a specific IPDS datastream, make sure you restore the values to the original settingsonce your job completes. Otherwise, all subsequent IPDS datastreams may be processed incorrectly.KEY POINT: After changing the settings on any tab in the JobProfile Editor, click [Save & Apply] to save your settings and applythem immediately or click [Save] or [Save As] to store yourchanges in an existing or new Job Profile for future use.The values shown in the Job Settings, Tray Mappings, andStacker Mappings tabs are read-only. To change the values, select [Manage Job Profiles...] to open the Job Profile Editor.Job Settings FunctionsThe Job Settings tab provides access to the following features:• Resource Resolution: Use the resolution to indicate the dotsper inch (dpi) input resolution of the data and resources sentby the host. Successful processing of the job data depends onthe proper identification of the input resolution. The systemcannot determine this automatically. The value is sent to thehost, which uses the value to choose the resolution of rasterfonts and certain images.Resource resolution is limited to: 240, 300, and 600 dpi.• GOCA Image Resolution: Use the GOCA Image ResolutionIPS Manager feature to select the input resolution for GOCAraster images within IPDS jobs. The selectable values are240, 300, and 600 dpiWhile GOCA data consists mostly of resolution-independentdrawing orders, it can contain raster images. GOCA rasterimages appear in some applications, because historically theyhave been easier to color in a PSF environment.Unfortunately, there is no definitive information in IPDS to letthe print server know the resolution used when these imagesare created so that it can do the proper scaling, as it does withIOCA images. For this reason, Xerox FreeFlow® Print Server
