S OLVING PROBLEMS 5.35Solving General Printing ProblemsFor problems with the operation of your printer, refer to the table for suggestedsolutions.Problem Possible Cause SolutionThe Printerdoes not print.The printer is notreceiving power.Check the power cord connections. Checkthe power switch and the power source.The printer is notselected as the defaultprinter.Select your printer in the printer folder inWindows as your default printer.Check the printer forthe following:• The printer cover isnot closed.• Paper is jammed.• No paper is loaded.• The toner cartridgeis not installed.• The installed tonercartridge is thewrong tonercartridge.After location the problem, clear it.• Close the door.• Clear the paper jam. See “ClearingPaper Jams” on page 5.6.• Load paper. See “Loading Paper” onpage 2.7.• Install the toner cartridge. See“Installing the Toner Cartridge” onpage 2.4.If the problem persists, contact yourservice representative.The printer may be inManual Feed mode.Add paper to the tray and press thebutton on the printer’s controlpanel to begin printing.The connection cablebetween the computerand the printer is notconnected properly.Disconnect the printer cable andreconnect it.The connection cablebetween the computerand the printer isdefective.If possible, attach the cable to anothercomputer that is working properly andprint a job. You can also try using adifferent printer cable.The port setting isincorrect.Check the Windows printer setting tomake sure that the print job is sent to thecorrect port. If the computer has morethan one port, make sure that the printeris attached to the correct one.The printer may beconfigured incorrectly.Check the printer properties to ensurethat all print settings are correct.
