Faxing_ 55Receiving optionsChanging the default document settingsThe fax options, including resolution and darkness, can be set to the mostfrequently used modes. When you send a fax, the default settings are usedif they are not changed by using the corresponding button and menu.1. Press Fax .2. Press Menu until Fax Setup appears on the bottom line of thedisplay and press OK.3. Press the left/right arrow until Change Default appears and press OK.4. Press OK when Resolution appears.5. Press the left/right arrow until the resolution you want appears and pressOK.6. Press the left/right arrow until Darkness appears and press OK.7. Press the left/right arrow until the darkness you want appears and pressOK.8. Press Stop/Clear to return to ready mode.Send Report You can set your machine to print a confirmationreport showing whether a transmission wassuccessful, how many pages were sent, andmore. The available options are On, Off, and On-Error, which prints only when a transmission isnot successful.Image TCR This function allows users to know what faxmessages have been sent by showing sentmessages in the transmission report.The first page of the message is turned into animage file than is printed on the transmissionreport so the users can see what messages havebeen sent.However, you can not use this function whensending fax without saving the data in thememory.Dial Mode This setting may not be available depending onyour country. If you cannot reach this option, yourmachine does not support this feature.You can set the dial mode for your machine toeither tone dialling or pulse dialling. If you have apublic telephone system or a private branchexchnage(PBX) system, you may need to selectPulse. Contact your local telephone company ifyou are not sure which dial mode to use.If you select Pulse, some phone system featuresmight not be available. It can also take longer todial a fax or phone number.OPTION DESCRIPTIONReceive Mode You can select the default fax receiving mode. Fordetails on receiving faxes in each mode, see page49.Ring to Answer You can specify the number of times the machinerings before answering an incoming call.Stamp RCVNameThis option allows the machine to automaticallyprint the page number, and the date and time ofreception at the bottom of each page of areceived fax.RCV Start Code This code allows you to initiate fax reception froman extension phone plugged into the EXT socketon the back of the machine. If you pick up theextension phone and hear fax tones, enter thecode. It is preset to *9* at the factory.Auto Reduction When receiving a fax containing pages as long asor longer than the paper loaded in the paper tray,the machine can reduce the size of the original tofit the size of the paper loaded in the machine.Turn on this feature if you want to automaticallyreduce an incoming page.With this feature set to Off, the machine cannotreduce the original to fit onto one page. Theoriginal will be divided and printed in actual sizeon two or more pages.OPTION DESCRIPTIONDiscard Size When receiving a fax containing pages as long asor longer than the paper in your machine, you canset the machine to discard a specific length fromthe end of the received fax. The machine will printthe received fax on one or more sheets of paper,minus the data that would have been on thespecified discard segment.When the received fax contains pages larger thanthe paper in your machine, and Auto Reductionhas been turned on, the machine will reduce thefax to fit on the existing paper, and nothing will bediscarded.Junk Fax Setup This setting may not be available depending onyour country. Using this feature, the system willnot accept faxes sent from remote stations whosenumbers are stored in the memory as junk faxnumbers. This feature is useful for blocking anyunwanted faxes.When you turn on this feature, you can access thefollowing options to set junk fax numbers.• Add: Allows you to set up to 20 fax numbers.• Delete: Allows you to delete the desired junkfax number.• Delete All: Allows you to delete all junk faxnumbers.DRPD Mode This mode enables a user to use a singletelephone line to answer several differenttelephone numbers. In this menu, you can set themachine to recognize which ring patterns toanswer. For details about this feature, see page50.Duplex Print • Long Edge: Prints pages to be read like abook.• Short Edge: Prints pages to be read byflipping like a note pad.• Off: Prints received fax on one sides of apaper.OPTION DESCRIPTION
