Studer Innotec SAXtenderUser manual V4.6.0 4416 DRAWING ELEMENTS (DC SIDE)Elem. Description CommentaRCC-02/-03remotecontrolThis device allows complete configuration of the installation as well asdisplaying the system behaviour. It is recommended but not necessary forthe installation to function well. See sect. 9.1 – p. 35.b BatteryThe battery capacity is constituted according to figures 5a to 6d based onthe required voltage. Note: It is vital that the voltage and the polarity of thebattery be checked before connecting to the inverter. An overload orincorrect polarity could seriously damage the Xtender. Correct dimensioningof the batteries is essential for trouble free operation of the system. See sect.4.3.1 – p. 18.c Earthing See sect. 4.5.5 – p. 22e Communications cableCommunications cable. Only an original cable supplied by Studer Innotecmay be used. The total length of the communications cable must notexceed 100 m for 3 x RCC-02/-03 or 300 m for a single RCC-02/-03.f ProtectiondevicesA fuse-type device, thermal circuit breaker or magnetic-thermal circuitbreaker (see fig. 8a) must be installed on at least one of the two batteryconductors. It will ideally be placed on the positive pole of the battery andas close as possible to this. The calibre of the device is selected accordingto the cable cross-section used.If the negative pole of the battery is not earthed, it must also be protectedby such a device.h DistributionbarPositive pole of the batteryj DistributionbarNegative pole of the batterykWind-poweredor/andmicro-hydrogeneratorOne or more wind-powered generators or/and micro-hydro with their ownregulation system may be used to directly charge the battery. Itsdimensioning does not depend on the Xtender and does not interfere withit.m SolargeneratorOne or more solar-powered generators with their own regulation system maybe used to directly charge the battery. Its dimensioning does not dependon the Xtender and does not interfere with it.r Remote entryA control device may be connected to the terminals (7) of the Xtender. Seesect. 7.7 – p. 31. On XTM and XTS this input is available on a separate(external) device RCM-10 (see sect. 9.3.1- p. 36).tBTS-01temperaturesensorThe sensor is placed in the immediate proximity to the battery. If theinstallation comprises several Xtenders, a single sensor is connected to oneof the units. See sect. 9.2 - p. 36.
