59FT-1900E OPERATING MANUALCW Identifier SetupThe ARTS™ feature includes a CW identifier, as discussed previously. Every ten minutesduring ARTS™ operation, the radio can be instructed to send “DE (your callsign) K,” if thisfeature is enabled. The callsign field may contain up to 16 characters.Here’s how to program the CW Identifier:1. Press and hold in the [MHz(SET)] key for one second, thenrotate the DIAL knob to select “11 CW ID.”2. Press the [MHz(SET)] key, followed by the [LOW(A/N)] key, to display any previ-ously-stored callsign.3. Press and hold in the [LOW(A/N)] key for one second toClear any previous callsign.4. Rotate the DIAL knob to select the first letter/number ofyour callsign, then press the [LOW(A/N)] key momentarilyto save the first letter/number and move on to the next character.5. Repeat the previous step, as many times as necessary, to complete your callsign. Notethat the “slant bar” (– • • – •) is among the available charac-ters, should you be a “portable” station.6. If you make a mistake, press the [REV(DW)] key to move back to the previous letter/number’s slot, then re-select the correct letter/number.7. When you have finished entering your entire callsign and it contains less than 16 char-acters, press the [MHz(SET)] key momentarily to confirm the callsign. (if you callsignhas exactly 16 characters, you do not need to press the [MHz(SET)] key in this step,and step ).8. Press the [MHz(SET)] key momentarily again, then rotatethe DIAL knob to set this Item to “ON” (to enable the CWID function).9. When you have made your selection, press and hold in the [MHz(SET)] key for onesecond to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.To disable the CW Identifier:1. Press and hold in the [MHz(SET)] key for one second, thenrotate the DIAL knob to select “11 CW ID.”2. Press the [MHz(SET)] key momentarily, then rotate theDIAL knob to set this Item to “OFF” (to disable the CW IDfunction).3. When you have made your selection, press and hold in the [MHz(SET)] key for onesecond to save the new setting and exit to normal operation.You may check your work by monitoring the entered callsign.
