Check:• differential gear operationUnsmooth operation → Replace the differ-ential gear assembly.Insert the double off-set joint into the differ-ential gear, and turn the gear back andforth.ASSEMBLING THE UNIVERSAL JOINT1. Install:• universal joint a. Install the opposite yoke into the universaljoint.b. Apply wheel bearing grease to the bearings.c. Install the bearing 1 onto the yoke.CAUTION:Check each bearing. The needles can eas-ily fall out of their races. Slide the yokeback and forth on the bearings; the yokewill not go all the way onto a bearing if aneedle is out of plate.d. Press each bearing into the universal jointusing a suitable socket.NOTE:The bearing must be inserted far enough intothe universal joint so that the circlip can beinstalled.e.
