Install the spark plug with thespark plug wrench, and then tight-en it to the specified torque.TIPIf a torque wrench is not available wheninstalling a spark plug, a good estimateof the correct torque is 1/4–1/2 turnpast finger tight. However, the sparkplug should be tightened to the speci-fied torque as soon as possible.3. Install the spark plug cap.EAU41448Transmission oilThe transmission must be checked foroil leakage before each ride. If anyleakage is found, have a Yamaha deal-er check and repair the motorcycle. Inaddition, the transmission oil must bechanged at the intervals specified in theperiodic maintenance and lubricationchart.1. Start the engine, warm it up forseveral minutes, and then turn itoff.2. Place the motorcycle on a levelsurface and hold it in an upright po-sition.3. Place an oil pan under the trans-mission case to collect the usedoil.4. Remove the oil filler cap, the trans-mission oil drain bolt and its gasketto drain the oil from the transmis-sion.5. Install the drain bolt and its newgasket, and then tighten the bolt tothe specified torque.6. Refill with the specified amount ofthe recommended transmissionoil, and then install and tighten theoil filler cap.Tightening torque:Spark plug:20 Nm (2.0 m·kgf, 14 ft·lbf)1.
