Check the connectors. Examine the cable for obvioussigns of damage, wear, or crimping. Substitute a knownworking cable. Check whether the NIC software is correctly installed.See Chapter 4. Run the diagnostic tests after installingthe 3C509B NIC to check overall NIC operation and toisolate failures. After the NIC is installed, if the default testsdo not isolate the problem, tailor the test parameters toaccommodate your specific situation.Do not run diagnostic tests with device drivers or memorymanagers installed.
