At this point, 3Com or your networksupplier may ask you to perform a memory dump. For information onmemory dumps, refer to “Memory Dump Procedures” on page 6-5.Using the HardwareInterrupt SwitchYou can use this method of accessing the monitor even if the serverbecomes nonfunctional.CAUTION: Do not press the hardware interrupt switch while the SelfTest LED is on. Doing so can corrupt memory or firmwareconfigurations. This LED can take up to a minute to go out.Using a nonconductive object such as a plastic stylus, press the hardwareinterrupt switch. The hardware interrupt switch is located on the server’sleft side (viewed from the front of the server) close to the rear, as shownin Figure 1-2 on page 1-4. The switch is recessed into a round hole toprotect it from being pressed unintentionally.WARNING: Use only a nonconductive object such as a plastic stylus topress the hardware interrupt switch. Do not use the tip of a pencil.Graphite particles can cause electrical shock to the operator and candamage components on the server’s circuit boards.The following message appears:3Com Corporation CS/2000 Series Monitor>If you are pressing the hardware interrupt switch because the server hasbecome nonfunctional, enter the following command:kEntering this command performs a soft reset, which resets the monitor’sstack and internal variables and the Ethernet and serial controllers.
