1.3.11 Safety risks during handling of batteriesDescriptionUnder normal conditions of use, the electrode materials and liquid electrolyte inthe batteries are not exposed to the outside, provided the battery integrity ismaintained and seals remain intact. There is a risk of exposure only in case of abuse (mechanical, thermal, electrical)which leads to the activation of safety valves and/or the rupture of the batterycontainer. Electrolyte leakage, electrode materials reaction with moisture/water orbattery vent/explosion/fire may follow, depending upon the circumstances.NoteAppropriate disposal regulations must be observed.Safe handlingUse safety glasses when handling the batteries. In the event of leakage, wear rubber gloves and chemical apron. In the event of fire, use self-contained breathing apparatus.Do not short circuit, recharge, puncture, incinerate, crush, immerse, force dischargeor expose to temperatures above the declared operating temperature range of theproduct. Risk of fire or explosion.Operating temperatures are listed in Pre-installation procedure on page 49.Product manual - IRB 6620LX 353HAC035737-001 Revision: P© Copyright 2009-2018 ABB.
