13Modem/ISDN portThe AdderView CATx IP modelsprovide a serial port to allow youto connect either a modem or ISDNterminal adapter. This can be usedas a primary, secondary or backupaccess port for global users, as bestsuits your overall configuration.IMPORTANT: When the AdderViewCATx IP is accessible from the publicInternet or dial up connection, youmust ensure that sufficient securitymeasures are employed.Note: On non-IP models, theCOM2/MODEM port is reserved forthe support of future features.To connect a modem or ISDN adapter1 If possible, disconnect power from the AdderView CATx IP and the modemor ISDN adapter.2 Connect a suitable serial modem (non-crossover) cable to the serial port onthe modem/ISDN adapter.3 Connect the other end of the serial cable to the port labelled COM1 at therear of the AdderView CATx IP.Note: The default serial port speed is 115200 and a standard Hayes-compatibleauto-answer string is sent during startup. The default startup string is‘ATZHS0=1’. Both the serial port speed and startup string settings can easily bealtered during configuration - see Initial IP configuration for more details.
