77Modem ConfigurationThis page allows you to configure theCOM1 serial port located at the rear ofthe AdderView CATx IP.Server IP / Client IPWhen a user dials into the AdderViewCATx IP via a modem or ISDN adapter,the AdderView CATx IP sets up atemporary two-device network usingPPP (Point to Point Protocol). For thispurpose, both devices must have‘dummy’ IP addresses so that theycan communicate correctly. Thesetwo addresses can be almost anythingexpressed in the quad octet format (i.e. 192.168.3.1.). However, it is advisablenot to make them the same as the real IP addresses used by either the remotesystem or the AdderView CATx.Baud RateThis option configures the speed of the serial connection between theAdderView CATx IP and a connected modem or ISDN terminal adapter. Thedefault setting is 115200. The other communication settings are fixed as: Noparity, 8 bit word, 1 stop bit.Init StringThe codes entered here are used to prepare the connected modem or ISDNterminal adapter for use with the AdderView CATx IP. The default code isa Hayes-compatible string to configure auto answer mode and would beunderstood by the vast majority of modem/ISDN devices. The code is sent whenthe AdderView CATx IP is first switched on or whenever the Initialize button isclicked.Initialize PortWhen selected, this option sends the characters entered in the ‘Init string’ fieldto the connected modem or ISDN terminal adapter.Restore DefaultsWhen selected, this option resets the ‘Baud rate’ and ‘Init string’ values to theiroriginal default settings.Reset ConfigurationThis option allows you to completely reset the IP portion of the AdderView CATxIP unit.WARNING: This process will remove all network and modem/ISDN settingsand return the unit to use its original state.
