91Proper cuff sizeUse a cuff of adequate size. If the size is too small or too big, ameasurement error occurs. Measurements with too small a cuff tendto be evaluated as high blood pressure, regardless of the properblood pressure and normal artery. Measurements with too large acuff tend to be evaluated as low blood pressure, especially for thosewho suffer from severe arteriosclerosis or have abnormal arterialvalves. The wrong cuff size is a cause of differences between thedirect method and oscillometric measurement method. The cuff hasthe label described range of the arm circumference. Select andattach the proper size cuff for each patient. The accuracy of theblood pressure measurement is guaranteed by the pressureaccuracy of the pressure sensor, exhaust characteristics andmeasurement algorithm, so long as the proper cuff and air hose areused. Inspect the pressure accuracy of the pressure sensor andexhaust characteristics periodically.11.2. EMC InformationThe requirements that apply to medical electronic instruments aredescribed below :Performance concerning of the EMC guidelinesMedical electrical equipment require special precautions regardingEMC (Electromagnetic compatibility) and must be installed and putinto service according to the EMC information provided below.Portable and mobile RF communication equipment (e.g. cell phones)can affect medical electrical equipment. The recorder is intended for use in the electromagnetic environmentspecified below. The customer or the user of the recorder shouldassure that it is used in such an environment.
