Design Menu 5.21FreehandThe Pro-Stitcher can record the movement of thequilting machine using the functions available in theFreehand panel. Because the Pro-Stitcher is readingthe motion of the carriage motors, the Freehandfunction requires that the carriage levers be in theengaged (down) position. If the motors are enabled(i.e. the quilting machine is locked in position), pressthe Disable Motors button at the top right-handcorner of the screen.Select the Design menu and then press theFreehand sub-menu button to reveal the Freehandpanel, which includes four functions (Figure 5.71).ClearPress the Clear button to clear any designs from theWork Area (Figure 5.72). This also clears anythingthat has been recorded with the Record button. When adding to an existing design using Freehandrather than clearing the screen, the Pro-Stitcher willfirst Baseline the design to treat the current state ofthe design as a single design.RecordPress the Record button to start recording themotion of the quilting machine (Figure 5.73). If adesign was left on the Work Area, a stitch line willbe placed between the end point of the currentdesign and where the crosshairs are when theRecord button is pressed. This enables a quilter toadd additional stitching to the end of the designif desired. For those quilters who are accustomedto free-motion long-arm quilting, there will besome added drag due to the carriage motors beingengaged and it may take some practice to getaccustomed to this feel.Figure 5.71Figure 5.72Figure 5.73
