Pro-Stitcher User Manual7.4 Quilt MenuFigure 7.7Channel LockThe Pro-Stitcher can be used as a channel lockfor the quilting machine by selecting either theHorizontal Channel Lock or the Vertical ChannelLock button (Figure 7.7). As long as the carriagemotor levers are in the engaged position, the Pro-Stitcher will lock the appropriate direction. Thequilter can then manually use the quilting machinehandles to stitch either horizontal or vertical lines.Trace OutlineBefore stitching any design, it is always a good ideato double check the positioning of the design. Oneway to do this is to manually move the quiltingmachine, making sure the crosshairs on the screenand needle position on the machine indicate that thedesign is indeed positioned properly on the quilt. Inaddition to doing a manual check, a quilter may alsouse the Trace Outline functions as well (Figure 7.8).BoxPress the Box button to have the Pro-Stitcher movearound the perimeter of the design following theblue bounding box . Watching the needle as themachine is tracing the perimeter helps the quilterknow whether the design is in the proper position.AreaAs an alternative to tracing the bounding box, press the Area button to have the quilting machinetrace the user-defined Area.StitchDuring either of these two trace functions, thequilter can have the quilting machine stitch duringthe trace. This can be very useful, for example, ifthe Area has been used to create a cropped regionaround an appliqué. The quilter can have the Pro-Stitcher stitch an outline around the Area to eithersecure the appliqué or to give more definition. Thisoption does not perform a pull-up or tie-off. Thesemust be done manually, if desired.Figure 7.8
