Figure 19. Shielding plate between scanners3.2.3 Light InterferenceReflective surfaces located near the safety device may cause passive reflections. These reflections can affect the detectionof an object inside the safety zone. The passive light sources can be an incandescent lamp, sunlight, a fluorescent light, astrobe light or other infrared light sources.Do not install the SX5 Safety Laser Scanner near strong and/or flashing light sources.Ambient light may interfere with the functioning safety laser scanner. If the installation requires direct exposure to ambientlight, the scanner must be positioned so that the light does not enter the output window within ±5° of the detection plane.±5°Figure 20. Position the scanner to avoid light interferenceCAUTION: In all applications where strong light within ±5° of the detection plane cannot be avoided, apply an additional distance to the Minimum Safety Distance calculations. This distance also depends onthe Dust Filter Level setting. See the chart below, the minimum safety distance calculation section(Minimum Safety (Separation) Distance Formula on page 30), and the dust filtering section (DustFiltering on page 28).1 m0 2 m 3 m 4 m 5 m 5.5 m50 mm100 mm150 mm200 mm250 mm300 mm350 mm400 mmAdditionalDistanceSafetyDistanceHIGH DUST FILTER LEVELMEDIUM DUST FILTER LEVELLOW DUST FILTER LEVELFigure 21.
