Navigate through Local Management by selecting items from themenu screens.The 2E4X-27 support three modes of switch operation. The switchingmodes are as follows:• 802.1D Switching (traditional switching)• 802.1Q Switching (port based switching)• SecureFast VLAN (Cabletron Systems SecureFast switchingDepending on the Operational Mode set for the device, the hierarchy ofthe Local Management screens differs as shown in Figure 5-4, Figure 5-5and Figure 5-6. Refer to the appropriate figure that relates to theOperational Mode set for the device to see the applicable LocalManagement screen hierarchy.NOTEThe User’s password is one of the community names specifiedin the SNMP Community Names screen. Access to certainLocal Management capabilities depends on the degree ofaccess accorded that community name. Refer to Section 5.8.If an invalid password is entered, the terminal beeps and thecursor returns to the beginning of the password entry field.Entering a valid password causes the associated access levelto display at the bottom of the screen and the Device Menuscreen to appear.If no activity occurs for several minutes, the Password screenredisplays and the password has to be reentered.NOTERefer to the Release Notes shipped with the product to verifywhich screens are supported in each of the three availableswitching modes.
