Chapter 3: Installation3-26H122-16 User’s Guide3.2 INSTALLING THE 6H122-16 INTO THE 6C105CHASSISThe 6H122-16 can be installed in any of the 5 slots that are available. Toinstall a module, proceed as follows:1. Remove the blank panel covering the slot in which the module will beinstalled. All other slots must remain covered to ensure proper airflowand cooling. (Save the blank plate in the event you need to remove themodule.)2. Carefully remove the module from the shipping box. (Save the boxand packing materials in the event the module must be reshipped.)3. Locate the antistatic wrist strap shipped with the 6C105 chassis.Attach the strap to your wrist and plug the cable from the antistaticwrist strap into the ESD grounding receptacle at the upper right cornerof the 6C105.4. Remove the module from the plastic bag. (Save the bag in the eventthe module must be reshipped.) Observe all precautions to preventdamage from Electrostatic Discharge (ESD).5. Examine the module for damage. If any damage exists, DO NOTinstall the module. Immediately contact the Cabletron Systems GlobalCall Center.!CAUTIONFailure to observe static safety precautions could causedamage to the 6H122-16. Follow static safety handling rulesand properly wear the antistatic wrist strap provided with the6C105 chassis.!CAUTIONDo not cut the non-conductive bag to remove the module.Damage could result from sharp objects contacting the boardor components.
