Enter Central’s IP address (101.78.1.1). Click OK.14. On the DNS Configuration tab, enter the host name (Remote).15. Click Add under the DNS Server Search Order. Enter the IP address of the DNS Server. ClickOK.16. Restart your machine when prompted.Setting up a New Number1. Click Start, Programs, Accessories and then Dial-Up Networking. (Or, you may get to the samelocation by clicking My Computer, then double clicking on Dial-Up Networking).2. Double click on Make New Connection:a. Provide name of the computer you are dialing.b. Select modem type.3. Click Configure. Three tabs will be displayed:a. On the General tab:• Select COM port to which your modem is hooked up.• Select modem’s maximum speed.b. On the Connection tab:• Under Connection Preferences, set the following: Data Bits, 8; Parity, none; Stop Bits, 1.Port Settings and Advanced may remain at default values.• Call Preferences may remain at default values.c. Options tab may remain at default values.4. Click OK to accept these values and return you to the modem name/type screen. Click Next.5. Enter 313 as the Area Code, 5551111 as the Phone Number and select United States of Americaas the Country Code. Click Next.6. Confirm your choices. Click Finish to proceed, or Cancel to abort the new number shortcut.Setting Up Server Type1. After setting up a new number, a new dialing icon will be displayed under Dial-Up Networking.Select the Central icon, click File, and then Properties.2. Click Server Type.a. Set Dial-up server type to PPP: Windows NT, Windows 95 Plus, Internet.b. Ensure Network protocols match what you entered earlier (page 37).c. Boxes for software compression and PPP LCP extensions should remain disabled.3. Click TCP/IP Settings. Click Specify an IP Address and provide your IP address (101.78.1.2). Or,click Obtain an IPaddress automatically. Click OK when finished.
