RDS MessagesALERT: Alert warns of local and national emergencies.When, an alert announcement comes on the currentradio station or a related network station, ALERTdisplays. The announcement should be heard, even ifthe volume is low or a CD or DVD is playing. If a CD orDVD is playing, play stops during the announcement.Alert announcements cannot be turned off. If theradio tunes to a related network station for theannouncement, it returns to the original station when theannouncement ends.ALERT is not affected by tests of the emergencybroadcast system. This feature is not supported by allRDS stations.MSG (Message): If the current RDS station has amessage, MSG displays. The message displaysthe artist, song title, call in phone numbers, etc. If theentire message does not display, parts of the messageappear every three seconds until the message iscompleted. Once the completed message has displayed,MSG disappears from the display until a new messageis received.To display the last message, perform thefollowing steps:1. Press the w knob to enter the main menu.2. Turn this knob until RECALL RDS MESSAGEdisplays.3. Press this knob again until the message displays.Once the message has been displayed, MSGdisappears from the display until another new messageis received.TP (Traffic Program): TP displays when the radiodetects a signal from an RDS station that has trafficannouncement broadcast capability.TA (Traffic Announcement): If TA displays, it meansthe tuned radio station broadcasts trafficannouncements.If the station does not broadcast traffic announcements,when TA is turned on it seeks to a station that does.When a station that broadcasts traffic announcements isfound, the radio stops seeking and TA displays. If nostation is found that broadcasts traffic announcements,No Traffic displays.The radio plays traffic announcements even if thevolume is low. The radio interrupts the play of a CD orDVD if the last tuned station broadcasts trafficannouncements.3-79
