Entry LightingThe entry lighting system turns on the reading anddome lamps and the backlighting to the exterior lampcontrol when a door is opened or if you press theremote keyless entry transmitter unlock button.If activated by the transmitter, the lighting will remainactive for about 25 seconds. The entry lighting systemuses the light sensor; it must be dark outside in orderfor the lamps to turn on. The lamps turn off about25 seconds after the last door is closed. They will dim tooff if the ignition is on, or immediately deactivate if thepower locks are activated.Parade DimmingThis feature prohibits dimming of the instrument paneldisplays and backlighting during daylight hours whenthe key is in the ignition and the headlamps are on.This feature operates with the light sensor and is fullyautomatic. When the light sensor reads darknessoutside and the parking lamps are active, the instrumentpanel displays can be adjusted by turning theinstrument panel brightness knob. See Instrument PanelBrightness on page 4‑35 for additional information.Reading LampsThe reading lamps are located on the overheadconsole. These lamps come on automatically when anydoor is opened.For manual operation, press the button next to eachlamp to turn it on or off.If the reading lamps are left on, they automatically shutoff 10 minutes after the ignition has been turned off.Battery Load ManagementThe battery load management feature is designed tomonitor the vehicle's electrical load and determine whenthe battery is in a heavy discharge condition. Duringtimes of high electrical loading, the engine may idle at ahigher revolutions per minute (rpm) setting than normalto make sure the battery charges. High electrical loadsmay occur when several of the following are on:headlamps, high beams, fog lamps, rear windowdefogger, the climate control fan at high speeds,heated seats and engine cooling fans.If the battery continues to discharge, even with theengine idling at a higher rpm setting, some electricalloads will automatically be reduced.
