Cadillac XT4 Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-MidEast-13527545) - 2020 -CRC - 9/16/19SEATS AND RESTRAINTS 65The passenger sensing system isdesigned to turn on the frontoutboard passenger frontal airbag andknee airbag, anytime the systemsenses that a person of adult size issitting properly in the front outboardpassenger seat.When the passenger sensing systemhas allowed the airbag to be enabled,the on indicator will light and stay litas a reminder that the airbags areactive.For some children, including childrenin child restraints, and for very smalladults, the passenger sensing systemmay or may not turn off the frontoutboard passenger frontal airbag andknee airbag, depending upon theperson's seating posture and bodybuild. Everyone in the vehicle who hasoutgrown child restraints should weara seat belt properly — whether or notthere is an airbag for that person.{ WarningIf the airbag readiness light evercomes on and stays on, it meansthat something may be wrong withthe airbag system. To help avoidinjury to yourself or others, havethe vehicle serviced right away. SeeAirbag Readiness Light 0 111 formore information, includingimportant safety information.If the On Indicator Is Lit for aChild RestraintThe passenger sensing system isdesigned to turn off the frontoutboard passenger frontal airbag andknee airbag, if the system determinesthat an infant is present in a childrestraint. If a child restraint has beeninstalled and the on indicator is lit:1. Turn the vehicle off.2. Remove the child restraint fromthe vehicle.3. Remove any additional itemsfrom the seat such as blankets,cushions, seat covers, seatheaters, or seat massagers.4. Reinstall the child restraintfollowing the directions providedby the child restraintmanufacturer and refer toSecuring Child Restraints (With theSeat Belt in the Rear Seat) 0 83 orSecuring Child Restraints (With theSeat Belt in the Front Seat) 0 85.Make sure the seat belt retractoris locked by pulling the shoulderbelt all the way out of theretractor when installing thechild restraint, even if the childrestraint is equipped with a seatbelt lock off. When the retractorlock is set, the belt can betightened but not pulled out ofthe retractor.5. If, after reinstalling the childrestraint and restarting thevehicle, the on indicator is stilllit, turn the vehicle off. Thenslightly recline the vehicleseatback and adjust the seatcushion, if adjustable, to make
