42 Using TAM Mode (JX510P only)ENGLISHUsing TAM Mode (JX510P only)Recording the Outgoing MessageBefore you use the built-in answering machine (TAM), you must record an outgoing message. Usethe Handset on the fax to record your outgoing message. Only one outgoing message, no longerthan 20 seconds, can be recorded. Types of Messages that can be Recorded Recording the Outgoing MessageTo record another type of message, select the type of message you want to record in step 3, andthen follow the procedure below to record it.1 Press [Menu].2 Use [{] or [}] to select , then press [Start/Copy].3 Use [{] or [}] to select , then press [Start/Copy].You can record an alternative outgoing message, fax/tel message or forwarding message byselecting the appropriate message and then continuing on to steps 4 to 7.4 Use [{] or [}] to select , then press [Start/Copy]. The LCD displays.5 Pick up the Handset. Press [Start/Copy] and speak into the Handset to record youroutgoing message.The remaining recording seconds is displayed on the LCD.6 Press [Stop/Reset] when recording is finished. The LCD displays HANDSET>.NoteYou cannot receive documents while you are recording a message or voice memo. Also, the ID> feature (see page 38) may not work properly.: Answering machine message, used when hasbeen selected when the call is disconnected (see page 39). Callercannot leave a message.: Answering message only, used when the recording time is set to 0,or the memory is full.: See page 45.: Message played when is set.
