Preface xiSafety InformationLaser SafetyThe LASER CLASS 2060 complies with 21 CFR Chapter 1 Subchapter J asa Class 1 laser product under the U.S. Department of Health and HumanServices (DHHS) Radiation Performance Standard according to theRadiation Control for Health and Safety Act of 1968. This means that theLASER CLASS 2060 does not produce hazardous laser radiation.Since radiation emitted inside the LASER CLASS 2060 is completelyconfined within protective housings, and external covers, the laser beamcannot escape from the machine during any phase of user operation.CDRH RegulationsThe Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the U.S. Foodand Drug Administration implemented regulations for laser products onAugust 2, 1976. These regulations apply to laser products manufacturedfrom August 1, 1976. Compliance is mandatory for products marketed inthe United States.Use of controls, adjustments or performance of procedures other thanthose specified in this user’s guide may result in hazardous radiationexposure.This label is attached to the laser scanner unit inside the LASER CLASS2060 and is not in a user access area.C
