6-2 Scanning Chapter 6Overview of ScanningYou can use the C50 to scan documents from the Desktop Manager, or froma TWAIN-compliant Windows application.From the Desktop Manager, your document can be scanned only as amonochrome image. When you scan a document with the DesktopManager, the ScanGear window displays. The available scan optionsenable you to set certain conditions for scanning. This chapter providesinstructions on setting scan options with the ScanGear window.From a Windows application, your document can be scanned as amonochrome or colour image. When you scan a document with anotherWindows application, the application may or may not display theScanGear window for setting scan options. If the ScanGear window is notdisplayed, refer to the documentation for the Windows application forinstructions on setting scan options.Typically when you scan a document using the ScanGear window, youscan a preview of the document. The preview image enables you to reviewthe results of your scanned document and make any needed adjustments(for example, to size, tone, and so on). When you are satisfied with theadjustments, you then perform the final scan of the document.
