EHBH04+08 + ERLQ004~008Daikin Altherma - Low Temperature Split4P313774-1 – 2012.05Installer reference guide307 Installation7.3.2 To install the drain pan kitIf a drain pan kit (EKHBDPCA2) is required, install it beforeconnecting the refrigerant and water pipes and the electrical wiring.To install, see the installation manual of the drain pan kit.7.4 Connecting the refrigerant pipingTake the following guidelines into account when connecting pipes:Q Coat the flare inner surface with ether oil or ester oil whenconnecting a flare nut. Tighten 3 or 4 turns by hand, beforetightening firmly.Q Always use two wrenches together when loosening a flare nut.Q Always use a spanner and torque wrench together to tighten theflare nut when connecting the piping. This to prevent nutcracking and leaks.7.4.1 Pipe bending guidelinesUse a pipe bender for bending. All pipe bends should be as gentle aspossible (bending radius should be 30~40 mm or larger).7.4.2 To flare the pipe end1 Cut the pipe end with a pipe cutter.2 Remove burrs with the cut surface lacing downward so that thechips does not enter the pipe.3 Remove the flare nut from the stop valve and put the flare nut onthe pipe.4 Flare the pipe. Set exactly at the position as shown in thefollowing illustration.DANGER: RISK OF BURNINGCAUTIONQ Do NOT use mineral oil on flared part.Q Do NOT reuse piping from previous installations.Q NEVER install a drier to this R410A unit to guaranteeits lifetime. The drying material may dissolve anddamage the system.NOTICETake the following precautions on refrigerant piping intoaccount:Q Avoid anything but the designated refrigerant to getmixed into the refrigerant cycle (e.g. air).Q Only use R410A when adding refrigerant.Q Only use installation tools (e.g. manifold gauge set)that are exclusively used for R410A installations towithstand the pressure and to prevent foreignmaterials (e.g. mineral oils and moisture) from mixinginto the system.Q Install the piping so that the flare is NOT subjected tomechanical stressQ Use caution when passing copper tubes through walls.Q Protect the piping as described in the following table toprevent dirt, liquid or dust from entering the piping.Unit Installation period Protection methodOutdoor unit >1 month Pinch the pipe<1 month Pinch or tape the pipeIndoor unit Regardless of theperiodINFORMATIONDo NOT open the refrigerant stop valve before checkingthe refrigerant piping.
