10.5 Fuses and Circuit BreakersFuses ensure that possible damage to the drive is limited to damages inside the unit. To ensure compliance with EN 50178,use identical Bussmann fuses as replacements. Refer to Table 10.8.NOTICEUse of fuses on the supply side is mandatory for IEC 60364 (CE) and NEC 2009 (UL) compliant installations.Input voltage (V) Bussmann ordering number380–480 170M7309525–690 170M7342Table 10.8 Fuse OptionsThe fuses listed in Table 10.8 are suitable for use on a circuit capable of delivering 100000 Arms (symmetrical), depending onthe drive voltage rating. With the proper fusing, the drive short circuit current rating (SCCR) is 100000 Arms. E1h and E2hdrives are supplied with internal drive fusing to meet the 100 kA SCCR and to comply with UL 61800-5-1 enclosed driverequirements. E3h and E4h drives must be fitted with Type aR fuses to meet the 100 kA SCCR.NOTICEDISCONNECT SWITCHAll units ordered and supplied with a factory-installed disconnect switch require Class L branch circuit fusing to meetthe 100 kA SCCR for the drive. If a circuit breaker is used, the SCCR rating is 42 kA. The input voltage and power ratingof the drive determines the specific Class L fuse. The input voltage and power rating is found on the productnameplate. For more information regarding the nameplate, see the operating guide.Input voltage (V) Power rating (kW) Short circuit rating (A) Required protection380–480 315–400 42000 Circuit breaker100000 Class L fuse, 800 A380–480 450–500 42000 Circuit breaker100000 Class L fuse, 1200 A525–690 355–560 40000 Circuit breaker100000 Class L fuse, 800 A525–690 630–710 42000 Circuit breaker100000 Class L fuse, 1200 A10.6 Motor10.6.1 Motor CableAll types of 3-phase asynchronous standard motors can be used with a drive unit.
