If the computer has never been turned on, turn it on now while it is undocked andcomplete the operating system setup, and then continue to step 2. If you havecompleted the operating system setup, turn on the computer, and then continueto step 2. For setup instructions, see the Dell Inspiron Systems Setup Guide thatcame with the computer.2. Save your work in all open application programs because you will need to restartyour computer at the end of this procedure to complete the installation.3. Insert the System Software CD into the CD-ROM drive.4. Click the Start button, and then click Run.The Run dialog box appears.5. Type x:\win98\dockquik\setup, where x is the drive letter of your CD-ROMdrive, and click OK or press .6. Follow the instructions on the screen.7. When the CMD PCI IDE Driver Setup Utility window appears, click Yes tocontinue.8. When prompted to restart the Windows operating system, remove the SystemSoftware CD from the CD-ROM drive, and then click Yes.9. After Windows restarts, shut down the computer.10. Dock the computer as described in your Advanced Port Replicator User’s Guide.11. Turn on the computer.12. When the Add New Hardware Wizard window appears, click Next.13. When prompted, click the Search for the best driver for your device(Recommended) radio button, and then click Next.14. When prompted to specify where Windows should search for the driver, clickNext.15. When Windows locates the driver, click Next to begin the driver installation.NOTE: The installation may appear to pause for 10 to 15 seconds while Windowscopies files.16. When Windows has finished installing the driver, click Finish.
