Running the Dell Diagnostics 4-9Tests in the Dell DiagnosticsTo troubleshoot components or devices, run the appropri-ate test (test group or subtest) in the diagnostics on yourdiagnostics diskette. The diagnostics exercises the func-tional components and devices of your computer systemmore vigorously and thoroughly than they are exercisedduring normal operation. The diagnostics is organized bycomponents into test groups and subtests within each testgroup. Each subtest is designed to detect any errors thatmay interfere with the normal operation of a specificdevice of the computer.NOTE: Some subtests requiring hardware not listed inthe System Configuration area of the diagnostics screenappear to run, but they conclude with a status messagestating Component not present (ordisabled).Table 4-2 lists the diagnostic test groups, their subtests,and comments concerning their use.Table 4-2.
