Dell SonicWALL Secure Mobile Access 8.5Administration Guide 129Host Name SettingsThe host name settings section allows the administrator to add and configure a host name by specifying an IPaddress, host name (host or FQDN) and an optional alias.Configuring Host ResolutionThe Host Resolution page enables network administrators to configure or map host names or fully qualifieddomain names (FQDNs) to IP addresses. The SMA/SRA appliance can act as both a NetBIOS and WINS (Windows Internet Name Service) client to learnlocal network host names and corresponding IP addresses. To resolve a host name to an IP address:1 Navigate to the Network > Host Resolution page. The Network > Host Resolution page is displayed.2 Click Add Host Name.3 In the Add Host Name window, in the IP Address field, type the IP address that maps to the hostname.4 In the Host Name field, type the hostname that you want to map to the specified IP address.5 Optionally, in the Alias field, type a string that is the alias for the hostname.6 Click Add. The Host Resolution page now displays the new host name.7 Optionally select Configure auto-added hosts on the Network > Host Resolution page. If this optionis selected, you can edit or delete automatically added Host entries (such as for IPv6). This option is notrecommended, as host mis-configuration could lead to undesirable results.Network > Network ObjectsThis section provides an overview of the Network > Network Objects page and a description of theconfiguration tasks available on this page.• Network > Network Objects Overview on page 129• Adding Network Objects on page 130• Editing Network Objects on page 131Network > Network Objects OverviewThe Network > Network Objects page allows the administrator to add and configure network resources, calledobjects. For convenience, you can create an entity that contains both a service and an IP address mapped to it.This entity is called a network object. This creates an easy way to specify a service to an explicit destination(the network object) when you are applying a policy, instead of having to specify both the service and the IPaddress. You can create IPv6 network objects using IPv6 object types and addresses.NOTE: A host resolution entry is automatically created for the SMA/SRA appliance itself. Do not delete it.
