They may cause severe injury if the terminals are shorted together or toground (earth). You must be extremely careful to avoid electric shock and burns causedby contacting battery terminals or shorting terminals during battery installation. Do nottouch uninsulated battery terminals. Any battery used with this UPS shall comply with the applicable requirements forbatteries in the standard for emergency lighting and power equipment, UL 924. Cabinetsare designed to be used with, and batteries must be replaced with, Eaton battery numberBAT-XXXX or equivalent.C A U T I O NThe electrician must take these precautions: Wear protective clothing and eye wear. For 120V battery systems, wear rubber glovesand boots. Batteries contain caustic acids and toxic materials and can rupture or leak ifmistreated. Remove rings and metal wristwatches or other metal objects and jewelry.Don't carry metal objects in your pockets where the objects can fall into the externalbattery cabinet. Tools must have insulated handles and must be insulated so that they will not shortbattery terminals. Do not allow a tool to short a battery terminal to another batteryterminal or to the cabinet at any time. Do not lay tools or metal parts on top of thebatteries, and do not lay them where they could fall onto the batteries or into thecabinet. Install the batteries as shown on the drawing provided with the batteries. Whenconnecting cables, never allow a cable to short across a battery's terminals, the string ofbatteries, or to the cabinet.
