– 16 –InstallationAdvanced PlanningThe product should not be installed over anycooktop or range with a combined BTU greater than60000 BTU.This oven is for installation over ranges up to 36inches wide.The space between the cabinets must be 30 incheswide and free of obstructions. If the space betweenthe cabinets is greater than 30 inches, a ller panelkit may be used to ll in the gap between the ovenand the cabinets. Filler panel kits available from GEare: White - JX52WH, and Black - JX52BL. These llerkits are for installation between cabinets only andare not for end-of-cabinet installation.Maximum cabinet depth above and beside the unitis 13 inches.When installing the oven beneath smooth, atcabinets, be careful to follow the instructions on thetop cabinet template for power cord clearance.For models with top venting holes: Do not allowcabinetry or other objects to block the airow of thevent.If the oven is to be vented outside, it is importantthat venting be installed using the most directroute and with as few elbows as possible. Thisensures clear venting of exhaust and helps preventblockages. Also, make sure dampers swing freelyand nothing is blocking the ducts.Note: The total duct length of 3¼" x 10" rectangularor 6" diameter round duct should not exceed140 equivalent feet. Refer to the InstallationInstructions (Hood Exhaust Section) for exhaust ductpreparation.WARNING: Risk of Electric Shock. Can cause injuryor death: THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE PROPERLYGROUNDED to avoid severe or fatal shock.A qualied electrician must perform a groundcontinuity check on the wall receptacle beforebeginning the installation to ensure that the outletbox is properly grounded. If not properly grounded,or if the wall receptacle does not meet electricalrequirements noted (under Electrical Requirements),a quali ed electrician should be employed to correctany deciencies.The wall outlet receptacle recommended for thisapplication is NEMA #14-30R and accepts the four-prong grounded plug of this appliance.Caution:• For personal safety, the mounting surface mustbe capable of supporting the cabinet load,in addition to the added weight of this 63–85pound product, plus additional oven loads ofup to 50 pounds or a total weight of 113–135pounds.• For personal safety, this product cannot beinstalled in cabinet arrangements such as anisland or a peninsula. It must be mounted toBOTH a top cabinet AND a wall.• To avoid the risk of personal injury (back injuryor other injuries due to excessive weight of themicrowave oven) or property damage, you willneed two people to install this microwave oven.Ensure properground existsbefore use.NEMA 14–30RWall ReceptacleElectrical RequirementsProduct rating is 120/208 or 120/240 volts, 60 Hertz,30 amps and 6.5 kilowatts. The outlet box shouldbe located in the cabinet above the oven and awayfrom any potential microwave oven ducting. Theoutlet box and supply circuit should be installed bya qualied electrician and conform to the NationalElectrical Code or the prevailing local code.
