Y2.8 Mounting RequirementsThe GIA 63(X) mounting surface must be capable of providing structural support and electrical bond to theaircraft to minimize radiated EMI and provide protection from High-Intensity Radiation Fields (HIRF).The GIA 63(W) can be mounted using the G1000 modular system rack, or may be mounted remotely usingthe Standalone rack. The GIA 63H must be mounted in the Helicopter Rack. Refer to drawings inAppendix B.2.8.1 Mounting LimitationsThe GIA 63(X) shall not be mounted in a location where either fluid contamination or water is commonlyencountered unless the applicable unit EQF indicates that the unit has claimed the appropriate RTCA DO-160 categories for these environments.2.8.2 Modular Rack ConsiderationsFigure 2-2 and Figure B-2 show the GIA 63(W) G1000 modular rack. The modular rack is fastened to themain system rack using the nutplate kit listed in Section 2.1.2. Refer to Figure B-2 for nutplate placementlocations. Figure B-1 gives the GIA 63(W) modular rack dimensions. The unit may also be mounted outside of the G1000 system rack. The number and positions of screwsnoted in Figure B-2 are to be used when mounting the GIA 63(W) modular rack outside of the G1000system rack. Aircraft manufacturer must fabricate any additional mounting equipment needed, use outlineand installation drawings in Appendix B for reference.Figure 2-2. GIA 63(W) Modular Rack
