Trail Guide ™ Owner’s Manual 47ENAPPENDIX > ADDING MAPS TO YOUR TRAIL GUIDEAdding Maps to Your Trail GuideYou can purchase additional MapSource® maps from Garmin foryour Trail Guide.Purchasing Additional MapSource MapsIn order to unlock and use additional MapSource data, you needyour Unit ID number (see page 40) and serial number (seepage 51). After you unlock your map data, you can transfer it tothe Trail Guide using MapSource and your personal computer.Note that the preloaded maps on your Trail Guide are protected andcannot be erased. For example, if you add additional maps to yourTrail Guide, you will not overwrite the original maps. If you loadadditional maps to the Trail Guide, these maps are not protected.The additional maps will be overwritten each time you load newmaps to the unit.Controlling Map Views on the Map PageYou can view a list of your map families on the MapSourceInfo page.To view the installed maps:1. Press the MENU key, highlight Settings, and press OK.2. Highlight Map Info and press OK. The MapSource Infopage opens.Map families loaded Individual maps loadedThe MapSource Info page lists the MapSource maps that areloaded onto the unit. For example, North American City Select v6and European City Select v6 might be listed. These are actuallymap families: each map family may contain numerous smallermaps.
