Caring for the Computer 7-8When Traveling Before traveling with your computer, make a backup of your harddisk data into flash disks or other storage devices. As an addedprecaution, bring along an extra copy of your important data. Make sure that the battery pack is fully charged. Make sure that the computer is turned off and the top cover issecurely closed. Do not leave objects in between the keyboard and closed display. Disconnect the AC adapter from the computer and take it with you.Use the AC adapter as the power source and as a battery-charger. Hand-carry the computer. Do not check it in as luggage. If you need to leave the computer in the car, put it in the trunk of thecar to avoid exposing the computer to excessive heat. When going through airport security, it is recommended that yousend the computer and flash disks through the X-ray machine (thedevice you set your bags on). Avoid the magnetic detector (the deviceyou walk through) or the magnetic wand (the handheld device usedby security personnel). If you plan to travel abroad with your computer, consult your dealerfor the appropriate AC power cord for use in your country ofdestination.
