Make sure the telephone line works by plugging aworking telephone into the same telephone outlet thatthe computer was plugged into. Then make sure youcan place a call.3. Make sure your modem cord is connected to an analogtelephone line. For additional help, see ”Setting upcommunications” on page 4-8.4. Make sure you are calling the correct number, and thatyou are using the correct communications settings. Foradditional help, see the user's guide for yourcommunications software.5. Make sure no one is using the telephone while you arecommunicating with another computer.6. If some communications programs work but others donot, there may be a configuration problem. If you have Call Waiting feature on your phone, makesure it is disabled.When the computer isturned on, the message“Insert a system disketteand press Enter to reboot”appears1. Choose BIOS Features Setup from the Configuration/Setup Utility menu, and make sure that the BootSequence is set correctly.2. Insert theRecovery and Diagnostics CD-ROM into theCD-ROM drive, and restart the computer.
