You can then start the Setup utility and reset thepower-on password. You can use any combination of up to sevencharacters (A - Z, a - z, and 0 - 9) for the password.Attention: If you set an administrator password and then forget it, there is no wayto change, override, or remove it. You must replace the I/O board.Using the Boot Selection Menu programThe Boot Selection Menu is used to temporarily redefine the first startup devicewithout changing boot options or settings in the Setup utility.To use the Boot Selection Menu program, complete the following steps:1. Turn off the server.2. Restart the server.3. When the prompt Select Boot Device is displayed, press F12. If abootable USB mass storage device is installed, a submenu item (USBKey/Disk) is displayed.4. Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to select an item from the menu andpress Enter.The next time the server starts, it returns to the startup sequence that is set in theSetup utility.Starting the backup server firmwareThe system board contains a backup copy area for the IBM System x ServerFirmware (server firmware). This is a secondary copy of the server firmware thatyou update only during the process of updating the server firmware.
