IP address of 192.168.70.125. The MAC address tag provides the defaulthostname of the IMM and does not require you to start the server.2. On the Login page, type the user name and password. If you are using the IMMfor the first time, you can obtain the user name and password from your systemadministrator. All login attempts are documented in the event log.Note: The IMM is set initially with a user name of USERID and password ofPASSW0RD (with a zero, not the letter O). You have read/write access. Youmust change this default password the first time you log on.3. On the Welcome page, type a timeout value (in minutes) in the field that isprovided. The IMM will log you off the Web interface if your browser is inactivefor the number of minutes that you entered for the timeout value.4. Click Continue to start the session. The System Status page, provides a quickview of the server status.Using the remote presence and blue-screen capture featuresThe remote presence and blue-screen capture features are integrated functions ofthe integrated management module (IMM).The remote presence feature provides the following functions:v Remotely viewing video with graphics resolutions up to 1600 x 1200 at 85 Hz,regardless of the system statev Remotely accessing the server, using the keyboard and mouse from a remoteclientv Mapping the CD or DVD drive, diskette drive, and USB flash drive on a remoteclient, and mapping ISO and diskette image files as virtual drives that areavailable for use by the serverv Uploading a diskette image to the IMM memory and mapping it to the server as avirtual driveThe blue-screen capture feature captures the video display contents before the IMMrestarts the server when the IMM detects an operating-system hang condition. Asystem administrator can use the blue-screen capture to assist in determining thecause of the hang condition.Enabling the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility programThe Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility program is part of the server firmware. Youcan use it to configure the network as a startable device, and you can customizewhere the network startup option appears in the startup sequence. Enable anddisable the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet Utility program from the Setup utility.Configuring the Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet controllerThe Ethernet controllers are integrated on the system board. They provide aninterface for connecting to a 10 Mbps, 100 Mbps, or 1 Gbps network and providefull-duplex (FDX) capability, which enables simultaneous transmission and receptionof data on the network. If the Ethernet ports in the server support auto-negotiation,the controllers detect the data-transfer rate (10BASE-T, 100BASE-TX, or1000BASE-T) and duplex mode (full-duplex or half-duplex) of the network andautomatically operate at that rate and mode.98 IBM System x3850 X5 and x3950 X5 Types 7145 and 7146: Installation and User’s Guide
