You can use any combination of 6 - 20printable ASCII characters for the password.If you forget the administrator password, you can clear the password by clearingCMOS memory (see “System-board jumpers” on page 25).Using the Boot Selection Menu programThe Boot Selection Menu is used to temporarily redefine the first startup devicewithout changing boot options or settings in the Setup utility.To use the Boot Selection Menu program, complete the following steps:1. Turn off the server.2. Restart the server.3. When the prompt Select Boot Device is displayed, press F12. If abootable USB mass storage device is installed, a submenu item (USBKey/Disk) is displayed.4. Use the Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to select an item from the menu andpress Enter.The next time the server starts, it returns to the startup sequence that is set in theSetup utility.Attention: If you install more than one bootable hard disk drive in the server, youmust use the LSI Configuration Utility program to select the hard disk drive to bootfrom. For information on LSI Configuration Utility program, see the documentationthat comes with your ServeRAID controller.Starting the backup server firmwareThe system board contains a backup copy area for the IBM System x ServerFirmware (server firmware). This is a secondary copy of the server firmware thatyou update only during the process of updating the server firmware. If the primarycopy of the server firmware becomes damaged, use this backup copy.To force the server to start from the backup copy of the server firmware, turn off theserver; then, move the UEFI boot recovery J117 jumper to the backup position (pins2 and 3). See “System-board jumpers” on page 25 for more information.Use the backup copy of the server firmware until the primary copy is restored.
