Select the Appliance Family Rules.The Appliance Family Rules determine what purpose an appliance must serve tobe included in the Family. You can select one of the following values:• IBM xSeries 150• IBM xSeries 130 and 1353. Specify a Family name.Type in the Family Name field that name that will be used for this Family.4. Specify network resources to be used by members of the Family.You can use the Advanced Appliance Configuration Utility to assign networkresources for members of this Family, to you can use a DHCP server to assignnetwork resources.• To use the Advanced Appliance Configuration Utility to assign networkresources, uncheck the Use DHCP checkbox and fill in the following fields:Min IP AddressThe lowest IP address in a range of IP addresses that can beassigned to an appliance that is a member of this FamilyMax IP AddressThe highest IP address in a range of IP addresses that can beassigned to an appliance that is a member of this FamilySubnet Mask The subnet mask value that will be used by appliances thatare members of this FamilyDefault GatewayThe IP address of the default gateway that will be used byappliances that are members of this Family (optional)DNS The IP address of the Domain Name Server that will be used byappliances that are members of this Family (optional)• To use a DHCP server to assign network resources, check the Use DHCPcheckbox. This will allow a DHCP server on your network to assign an IPaddress and subnet mask and to specify the default gateway address andaddress of the Domain Name Server that will be used by appliances that aremembers of this Family.5. Select a Host Name Allocation Type.The Host Name Allocation Type enables you to automatically specify a specificHost Name that members of this Family will use. You can select one of thefollowing Host Name Allocation Types:No AllocationNo preconfigured host name format will be assigned to appliances thatare members of this family.Use Serial NumberThe Serial Number of the discovered appliance will be used as a hostname for the appliance.Use Prefix NameA user-specified prefix, along with an incremental number for eachappliance, will be used for the host name of each appliance that is amember of this Family. Type the desired prefix in the Host Name Prefixfield.6. Click OK to save this Family.
