Surround ModeJBL SYNTHESIS SDP-45- 46 -SDP-45 SURROUND MODESPressing the SURROUND left and right arrow buttons button will allow you to sequentially select one of the many available decoding modes for expand orupmix almost any source signal into the maximum number of output channels the SDP-45 is configured to use. The custom SDP-45 Surround Modes usea set of DSP algorithms to create a set of simulated surround sound signals from the original left and right 2 channel data or can increase a 5.1 signal to7.1 outputs. The surround mode can also be a result of the incoming digital audio stream, and may be encoded onto the disc or broadcast signal as adiscrete multi-channel, or encoded multichannel format. The available surround modes are dynamic and not all modes are available at all times, dependent on the source and source content.o 2.0 to 5.1 or 7.1 modes: These include the Dolby Pro Logic, Pro Logic IIx, DTS Neo6, Club, Party and Stereo7 modes. When these modesare used the 2 channel signal is ―upmixed‖ to more channel outputs. In these listening modes the original content is used to create morechannels and fill the outputs available.o 5.1 discrete to 7.1 modes: When the input signal format is a discrete input format, includingo 7.1 discrete modes:All surround modes pass through the bass management as set for that source unless the 2-Channel Bypass is engaged. The SDP-45 uses ―last used‖ logic, and remembers the last used surround mode that was valid. If the last used mode is not valid, a valid mode willbe automatically selected. This selection is remembered even if the SDP-45 is turned off.The surround mode memory is affected by the GLOBAL / INDIVIDUAL parameter located in source setup. If GLOBAL is chosen then all sourceswill apply the same surround mode for each logical signal format. If the parameter is set to INDIVIDUAL then each input will allow for andremember different playback surround mode choices.PASS THROUGH: No additional output processing is applied. Only theinput processing (if needed) and bass management is enabled.STEREO7: The Stereo7 (Seven-Channel Stereo) Mode converts stereoinput to surround sound. The stereo signal is distributed to the 7SAT/CBL channels plus sub-woofer, creating a giant stereo image inyour listening space.STEREO7x: This post processing uses a matrix decoder and a complexarray of delay and reverberation processing to create a pseudo surroundsound effect from a stereo input signal.PARTY: The Party (Seven-Channel Mono) Mode converts stereo inputto a mono signal which is then distributed to the 7 channels plus sub-woofer.CLUB: This Sound Field Mode is intended to simulate being fairly close, around 10 feet away, in a small intimate club setting with a moderateamount of reverberation that does not destroy clarity. The result is a bitcolored for speech due to the small room size, but it is quite suitable forjazz groups, cabaret, small-venue rock ‗n roll, and a small disco venuewhere dance music is played. This mode can also be used for classicalchamber music and solo instrumental music of most kinds.DOLBY PRO LOGIC: Dolby Surround/Pro Logic is based on basicmatrix technology. When a Dolby Surround soundtrack is created, fourchannels of sound are matrix-encoded into an ordinary stereo (twochannel) sound track. The Center channel is encoded by placing itequally in the left and right channels; the rear channel is encoded usingphase shift techniques. A Pro Logic decoder/processor ―unfolds‖ thesound into the original 4.0 surround—left and right, Center, and a singlelimited frequency-range mono rear channel.DOLBY PLII NATURAL: PLII Natural mode enhances the basic stereoreproduction by using the inherent acoustics recorded within the sourcematerial. If the source material was surround encoded or recorded in anacoustically oriented manner (such as symphonic music and many liverecordings) this mode can provide an enhanced sense of the space inwhich the music was being performed.
