14Installing/Changing BladesReferring to Figures 21 and 22:The band saw is provided with a 10-TPI metalcutting blade, 137”L x 3/4”W x 0.025”Thk.Disconnect machine frompower source. Blade teeth are sharp, use carewhen handling the blade. Failure to comply maycause serious injury.1. Disconnect machine from power source.2. Decrease blade tension by rotating the bladetension handwheel (A) according to the arrowdirection until the handwheel stops.3. Remove the table insert (B).4. Remove the tapered pin (C) by using thewrench attached with the pin together.5. Lower the upper blade guide assembly (H) byloosening the knob (F) and rotating thehandwheel (G).6. Open upper and lower front doors (D).7. Carefully remove the blade from betweenupper and lower blade guides; then remove theblade from the upper and lower wheels.8. Guide new blade through table slot (E). Placeblade in upper and lower blade guides.Note: Make sure blade teeth point downtoward table (see inset, Figure 21), and towardthe front of the saw.Hint: If the teeth cannot be made to pointdown, try turning the blade inside out first, thenre-attempt.9. Position blade on the middle of the upper andlower wheels.10. Replace the table insert (B) and tapered pin(C).Before operating the band saw, the new blade mustbe adjusted and blade guides re-adjusted.
