17Lower Bearing AdjustmentsUnplug the machine from powersource before making any adjustments! Bladeteeth are sharp – use care when working nearthe saw blade. Failure to comply may causeserious injury.Note: Blade tension must be properly adjustedprior to bearing guide setup. Refer to the BladeTension section.Referring to Figure 27:1. Loosen the thumb screw (B).This will allow the thrust bearing (A) to movefreely and prevent interference with the sawblade (C) during the following steps.Guide Bearings Adjustment2. Loosen the locking handle (D) then turn theadjustment screw (E) to adjust the assemblyforward or backward until the front of the guidebearings (F) rest just behind the gullet of theblade teeth (see inset).3. Tighten the locking handle (D).Thrust Bearing Adjustment4. With the thumb screw (B) still loose (from Step1), slide the thrust bearing (A) and bearing postuntil the space between the bearing (A) and theback edge of the blade (C) is approximately1/64”.A convenient way to achieve this spacing is byplacing a dollar bill folded twice (fourthicknesses) between the blade and supportbearing – four thicknesses of a dollar bill isapproximately 1/64”.5. Tighten the thumb screw (B).4. Loosen the lock knob (G). Rotate theadjustment handles (H) until the guide bearings(F) rest lightly against the blade (C). Do notforce the guide bearings against the side of theblade.5. Tighten the lock knob (G).Check to make sure that the adjustments have notchanged during tightening, and that the bearingguides do not pinch the blade.Figure 27
