Additionally, theVoice Scrambler board must be installed before this function can be activated.◆ Ask your dealer for details concerning the Voice Scrambler board and the Encryption DES/AESsettings.Secure (encrypTed ) TrAnSMiSSionPress the key programmed as Scrambler/ Encryption to switch the transceiverto secure (encrypted) transmission.• The (KCH-4) or OPT (KCH-5) icon appears on the display.• Pressing the microphone PTT switch after the Scrambler or Encryption function hasbeen turned ON encrypts the transmitted signal.• Each group member must activate their respective Scrambler/ Encryption functions todescramble the received signals.SelecTing The ScrAMbler code (FM)1 Press the key programmed as Scrambler/ Encryption Code or press andhold the key programmed as Scrambler/ Encryption for second, to enterCode Selection mode.2 Press the GRP and keys or rotate the CH control to increase ordecrease the Scrambler code.• There are 6 available Scrambler codes ( ~ 6).• Each group member must use the same code in order for the transceivers todescramble the received signals.3 Press the PF 1, PF 2, or PF 3 key to exit Code Selection mode.SelecTing The encrypTion Key (p25)1 Press the key programmed as Scrambler/ Encryption Code or press andhold the key programmed as Scrambler/ Encryption for second, to enterKey Selection mode.2 Press the GRP and keys or rotate the CH control to select the newEncryption key.• There are 6 available Encryption keys ( ~ 6).• When a call is received, the transceiver will descramble the call as long as thereceived code is in the encryption list.3 Press the PF 1, PF 2, or PF 3 key to exit Key Selection mode.Note: To return the transceiver to the default programmed Encryption key, select “PRESET”.However, if you delete the Encryption key {page 27}, it will not be recovered.
