9OPERATING BASICSOVERVIEWYour dealer can program your transceiver with Trunking and Conventional zones.The transceiver can handle up to 128 zones with up to 250 channels/ group IDsin each zone and a total combined maximum of 512 channels/ group IDs.Zones, channels/ group IDs, and their functions are programmed by your dealer.SWITCHING POWER ON/ OFFPress the switch to switch the transceiver ON.• A beep sounds and the display momentarily lights up.• If the Transceiver Password function is programmed, “PASSWORD” appears on thedisplay. You must enter the password to unlock the transceiver. Refer to “TransceiverPassword”, below.Press the switch again to switch the transceiver OFF.■ T RANSCEIVER P ASSWORDTo enter the password:1 Press the and keys to select a digit.2 Press the C> key to accept the entered digit and move to the next digit.• Press the A key to delete an incorrect character. Press and hold the A key todelete all entered characters.• Repeat steps 1 and 2 to enter the entire password.3 Press the S key to confirm the password.• If you enter an incorrect password, an error tone sounds and the transceiverremains locked.To enter the password using an optional DTMF keypad:1 Press the DTMF keys corresponding to the password digits.• Press the A or DTMF # key to delete an incorrect character. Press and hold theA or DTMF # key to delete all entered characters.2 Press the S or DTMF key to confirm the password.• If you enter an incorrect password, an error tone sounds and the transceiverremains locked.ADJUSTING THE V OLUMEPress the key programmed as Volume Up to increase the volume and VolumeDown to decrease the volume.• The default setting for the key is Volume Up.• The default setting for the key is Volume Down.
